Participant Release Form

I understand that yoga includes physical movements as well as the opportunity for relaxation, stress re-education and relief of muscular tension.

Participation in yoga classes includes, but is not limited to, participation in meditation techniques, yogic breathing, and performing various yoga postures. Yoga postures are designed to exercise every part of the body. Stretching and toning the muscles and joints, the spine and the entire skeletal system. They also work on the internal organs, glands and nerves. Yoga incorporates sustained stretching to strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Yoga is an individual experience.

As is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. My signature acknowledges I understand that in yoga class I will progress at my own pace. If I experience any pain or discomfort, I will listen to my body, adjust the posture and ask for support from the instructor. I will continue to breathe smoothly. If at any point I feel overexertion or fatigue, I will respect my body's limitations and rest before continuing the yoga practice.

I understand that yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis, or treatment. I should consult a physician prior to beginning any activity program, including yoga. I recognise that it is my responsibility to notify my instructor of any serious illness or injury before every yoga class. I will not perform any postures to the extent of strain or pain.

If I am pregnant or become pregnant or am post-natal, my signature verifies that I am participating in yoga classes with my doctor's full approval. I realise that I am participating in yoga classes at my own risk.

If at any time during this class you feel discomfort, strain or pain, gently come out the posture. You may rest at any time during the class. It is important in yoga that you listen to your body, and respect its limits on any given day.

I accept that neither the instructor, nor the hosting facility, is liable for any injury, or damages, to person or property, resulting from taking the class. Those under 18 years of age must have this form signed by a parent or guardian.

I also agree that I can be contacted by Verity Yoga for information on classes, events and other communication (such as class postpone notification etc).
